Melissa Dixon

The book 'Princess Perfect', has been published posthumously via her estate and final Will. The estate executor has written about the author:

Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the author of this book. I only met Ms Dixon once when she came into my office to give me instructions for the drafting of her Will. She had asked me to act as the executor of her Will, to which, I reluctantly agreed because she told me there was nobody else she could ask. Her instructions included a direction to make reasonable endeavours to procure the publication of the manuscript of this book “with no changes whatsoever”.

She was quite talkative, as many elderly people are, particularly when they are lonely. She recounted her days spent playing as a freelance cellist for some of the big London orchestras in the 1960s. She worked with many conductors, and performed at various concerts, and spoke of an English cello player called Jacqueline du Pre with an admiration that bordered on adoration. She said the current crop of cellists in London were “nothing compared to Jackie”. I have later surmised that her experiences led her to write this book, 'Princess Perfect'.
