Joe Mitchell

Joe Mitchell lived on the Coeur d’Alene Reservation in Idaho for 18 years, in rural China for 7 years, and has spent more than 1000 nights in backpack tents and bivy bags. He is a licensed engineer, Wilderness First Responder, and has founded two successful nonprofits. He is a bad swimmer, even worse at singing Karaoke, and still struggles to properly back up his boat trailer. His books reflect his unusual combination of skills and experiences, and are written with honesty and humor. Joe has been married to his wife Kim for more than 35 years. They have two adult children and one grandchild.
