Marc Pierre Bonis

Marc Bonis was born and raised in New Orleans. He lives in the Bayou Liberty area of Southern Louisiana, a community 35 miles north of New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain. He has resided in the Bayou Liberty Area since 1977 where he and his wife raised their two sons.

He is an avid international traveler.

Bonis began his professional career in 1968 in the petroleum industry as an engineer for Schlumberger Offshore Services logging wells predominantly in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1973 he became a project engineer for BellSouth Telecommunications and retired as Assistant to the President of Louisiana in 2000.

After his retirement he returned to school and received his Ph.D. in Human Performance and Health Promotion from the University of New Orleans (UNO). Currently, he is an assistant professor and teaches exercise science and graduate statistics courses at UNO. During that time (2008-2013) he was also an adjunct assistant professor at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in the School of Public Health in New Orleans. He is a published researcher and has professional certifications with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
