Robert E. Denton, Jr. retired in 2022, after 34 years at Virginia Tech. He held the W. Thomas Rice Chair in the Pamplin College of Business and was the Founding Director of the School of Communication at Virginia Tech. Denton received his undergraduate and master’s education at Wake Forest University and his doctorate from Purdue University. During Denton’s 34 years at Tech, 32 of those years he served as an Administrator. He provided leadership to the former department and now School of Communication for 22 years. He was also the founding Director of the Rice Center for Leader Development and served in that position for 11 years. Denton is the author, co-author or editor of 33 books, several in multiple editions.
