I am a hobby artist and enjoy creative writing. In 2018 a good friend asked me to illustrate a children's storybook, ‘The Tale of Ticky the Elephant’, which was an honor and a wonderful learning experience. I was expecting my first granddaughter at the time and had her in mind with each page I created. I love that all proceeds from this book benefit an orphanage and school in Rwanda, and that a stuffed animal was created of the main character.

My grandson soon came along and in 2022 we realized he had serious medical issues. I searched for books that would help ease his fears of the frequent MRI’s that he was having and would need throughout his life. I found a couple of very good books on what MRI’s are and what they do, but I wanted to find a book that focused entirely on the emotional and psychological aspects a child faces with having frequent scans — something very colorful, engaging and playful. The result was my second book project, ‘Cody’s MRI Wandering’.

My hope is that this book will find its way into the hands of families that have children with various brain anomalies, pediatric neurological departments, pediatric imaging centers, and child life specialists who help these brave little ones navigate some very big challenges in life.
