I am Sasha M. Stevens, author of The Peacock's Legacy (the British English version of the title The Peacock's Heritage). A retired teacher and lecturer, I am married with two daughters and four grandsons. I am widely travelled and have lived in Scandinavia and the United States. My time as an expatriate gave me a broad perspective on life and people.
I am an avid reader with eclectic tastes ranging from historical fiction and crime to romance and biographies. As a psychologist, I am interested in people and what motivates them, and as a biologist, I am interested in animal behaviour. In the COVID lockdown. I studied for a master's in creative writing to keep me busy. That modest ambition, which I did not expect to complete since I began with no knowledge beyond O-level English in 1965, turned a novice into a passionate writer.
I conducted genealogical research for my dissertation, and from that, a novel was born. I don't plan; I write spontaneously, so finishing the story through multiple editors was challenging. However, I have included a dramatis personae to help readers keep track of the characters. I love characterisations and dialogue, and you will find lots of both in the novel.
I have several social media accounts, but you will need to search for them, as I am unable to advertise on this platform. I do not expect to make a career out of writing - at 76, I am beyond that point. However, I hope to bring joy to someone's life by sharing my work. If you find grammatical errors, please blame the first publisher with whom I have parted company for publishing without my explicit consent.
P.S.: The headshot was a formal picture taken for my 50th birthday. Nobody wants to look at a 76-year-old woman.
Happy reading.
