John Parenteau

John began his creative journey as a writer and storyteller, his short stories first published in creative writing books offered at his high school. After attending the University of Southern California School of Cinema/TV, he enjoyed a career in filmmaking that has spanned over thirty years, during which he has worked in nearly every aspect of film, including cinematography, visual effects, writing, producing and directing. He won an Emmy Award in 1995 for his work on Star Trek: Voyager, and has supervised or produced visual effects on such wide ranging projects as Hunger Games, Oceans 8 and Iron Man.

An avid believer in embracing life's many adventures, John has always been open to learning new things. He learned to drive on a tractor when he was 12, and continued his education behind the wheel on a go-kart, learning the art of drift racing on gravel roads before he even knew it was a form of racing. He was an officer of the Marion County Sheriff's Search & Rescue team in high school, and was briefly a member of the Junior Olympic Fencing Team. His passion for driving continued after college when someone suggested he go to racing school, something he had no idea existed at the time. John is also a certified firefighter and apparatus driver in Connecticut, a certified scuba diver and played in a flag football league for nearly 20 years.

John has harbored a strong sense of adventure, and a love of a good challenge, his entire life. As a storyteller, John has a passion for character, and enjoys examining the deeper side of the human psyche in his projects. He is currently enjoying the process of converting several film screenplays he has written into novels, under his Bigfoot Robot banner.
