Howard Krais

Howard Krais is a leader in the communications world with over 30 years’ experience in the field of employee communications.

Listening has been a topic that Howard has passionately advocated, since first raising it in April 2018. Since then, Howard has spoken widely on listening as well as co-authoring four ground-breaking reports on how organisations listen, before continuing his collaboration with Mike Pounsford and Kevin Ruck as they co-wrote “Leading the Listening Organisation”, published by Routledge in December 2023.

In February 2023 Howard co-founded a consulting business called ‘True’, with Ann-Marie Blake. True is based on a shared belief in the power that truly engaged employees can create with a purpose of helping organisations build winning cultures through maximising the potential of their people.

Before True Howard spent nearly five years at Johnson Matthey. Here he developed the award-winning AirTime programme, an innovative conversation-based approach to building understanding and commitment in a time of major transformation. Prior to JM, Howard held senior roles in major global businesses including GSK and EY where he led large global teams delivering significant cultural change.

Howard spent two years as President of the UK chapter of the International Association of Business Communications (IABC). He is an in demand speaker at international events including IABC World Conferences, the Public Relations Society of America, the Institute of Internal Communications and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations amongst others.

Howard spent a lot of time learning about leadership during a recent nine-year stint as Chairman of Wealdstone Football Club, who now play in the National League, the fifth level of English football. He also enjoys having small shares in slow racehorses and is a keen film fan. He has been married to Katie for nearly 33 years and has two daughters, Daisy and Holly.
