Femi Yusoof

Femi Yusoof is an experienced international careers coach with a background in recruitment and training. Born in London, Paddington, Westminster, Femi grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa, before returning to London, England in 1987 to complete his secondary school education in East London. He is a quintessential Londoner, having lived or worked across North, South, West, and East London over the last 30 years. A graduate of The University of Manchester, where he gained a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, before going to Buckinghamshire Chilterns University, to acquire a post graduate diploma in Business Information Technology. His first professional job after leaving university, was for Updata plc, spending more than half a decade with the financial software company in Southwest London, now a global financial investment software company. Femi initially started on the helpdesk, providing technical support to private investors trading the stockmarket, later became responsible for the company’s help documentation, developing help files for the software program, as well as hard copy user manuals.

After leaving the software technology world, Femi moved into recruitment and sales. Initially, working for the global financial services firm, American International Group (AIG), before starting out his recruitment career working in healthcare and medical. Other industries that Femi recruited for include, human resources, construction, and engineering, as well as education.

Femi is passionate about guiding and advising people, both young and experienced professionals with their career plans. Femi’s unique style of training have captivated audiences across London and the Southeast, where his work has supported many people into skills, training, or employment.

Over the last few years, Femi has mainly worked with university students, supporting with improving the employability skills of students through work-based learning opportunities, such as placements and internships.

His activities have covered the areas of education, employment, and enterprise. In the period from 2011 – 2019, Femi worked for half that duration as a self-employed business consultant, with clients spanning sectors such as welfare to work, skills and training, and business services.

Femi has been an active member of his community, for a duration of five years, he co-led a community inclusion project called ‘Parade of Nations’, funded and supported by Dominion Gospel Church, Croydon, and Croydon Council. In addition, Femi served as a parent governor for a decade at a local primary school where his children attended in Croydon and continues to serve as school governor at another school to this day. He has worked and volunteered with several charitable groups, including Citizens Advice, Croydon Voluntary Action, and many more across London and Southeast England. He was nominated twice to stand as a local councillor, most recently, in the 2022 local elections in the London Borough of Croydon. Further work has involved supporting young people on the National Citizens Service (NCS) programme setup for 16 to 17-year-olds in the community, engaging students and pupils across London.

Femi is a sought-after motivational speaker and has spoken in front of small and large gatherings, both within the community and across business settings.

Among Femi’s other passions include table-tennis at which he won several medals and trophies, and played at competitive level, including representing Manchester University in inter-university competitions while at university. Other interests, include blogging, current affairs, volunteering, public speaking, and reading wide variety of non-fiction material. He is also a football fan, supporting his two boys in Sunday league football matches. In addition, Femi is married, with four children and resides in South London.
