Lorraine Johnston never set out to become a writer — at least, not at first. But in 2016, a persistent character named Abigail Winslow showed up while she was journaling and refused to leave. That spark became The Call to Witchery. What began as a few scribbled journal entries grew into a full-blown trilogy and a brand-new creative chapter in her life.

A lifelong reader and self-proclaimed tea addict, Lorraine has spent more than three decades working in IT, helping people make sense of complex systems. Her curiosity and love of storytelling eventually merged, leading her to explore how emerging technologies like AI could support the creative process. That journey inspired her bestselling nonfiction guide, Writing Fiction with ChatGPT.

When she’s not writing or reading, Lorraine is probably researching something obscure, drinking more tea than is reasonable, or daydreaming about magic in the margins of everyday life.
