Paul Hansen

Paul Hansen is an author, Director of the Basille Collaboration Center at Fonseca Theatre Company, an arts marketing consultant, actor, singer, and adjunct teacher. His concept for "Raising the Curtain: Technology Success Stories from Performing Arts Leaders and Artists" (Wiley, 2024) came from the work he did as marketing director for a medium-sized dance company during the Covid lockdown. Dealing with ever-changing technologies, company needs, and a continually growing list of projects, Paul reached out to fellow arts marketing professionals who were going through the same challenges to form a supportive cohort. After in-person gatherings and performances restarted, Paul was disappointed to notice so many of his peers returning to previous ways of doing business while mostly stepping away from the technologies and practices learned during the pandemic.

"Raising the Curtain" extends that cohort and shares technology success stories from performing arts professionals across the U.S., as well as ways they hope to integrate technology in future projects. They aren't stepping away from technology, but embracing it in every area of their organizations.

Paul is currently working on a new book about technology in another sector and two plays.
