Kate McGill

I am many things.

I am a theatre (OR) nurse, secondary teacher, MBA, author, health researcher, farmer, wife and mother to two amazing boys.

I like to keep life interesting.

After completing a Bachelor of Nursing, followed by a PostGrad Cert in Perioperative Nursing, I have spent more than 30 years as an RN in the Emergency Operating Theatre.

I then completed an MBA majoring in New Venture Development with a minor in International Business, primarily to assist in the management of our picturesque family farm on the western fall of the beautiful Barrington Ranges in NSW Australia.

I later completed a PostGrad Bachelor of Teaching – Secondary (Science & HSIE). I teach casually around the Hunter where I especially enjoy working with the more challenging classes.

I have always loved writing and have hundreds of ideas, mainly speculative fiction, but turns out that writing for children is my true passion.

I am also part of a research project assessing the effectiveness of The Dino Op Perioperative Program (for 1-10 year olds) which is based on my books Dino Op & Dino Op Emergency. The research proved that the program not only significantly decreased anxiety, but also reduced the expensive theatre downtime that can occur when caring for distressed patients. Op Quest Perioperative Program (for 10 - 16 year olds)is now available as well.
