Greg J Keynes

About the Author — Greg Keynes

Greg Keynes is an Australian author, helicopter pilot, and outback businessman whose life and writing are grounded in real experience.

Growing up on a remote station in Western Australia, Greg went on to own and operate a helicopter mustering business across hundreds of properties, gaining a rare perspective of the Australian landscape — including regions shaped by some of the oldest rock formations on the planet.

His books draw directly from this life: raw, authentic stories of the bush, aviation, survival, and the people who live it.

Greg is the author of The Flying Bushman series, including:

A Taste and Look of the Real Bush

An Australian Story of Life Above the Land

Stories from the Heart

His work has been described as honest, vivid, and deeply Australian — capturing a way of life few experience firsthand.

Greg’s story has also attracted national and international attention, with features across radio, television, and major publications including Maxim Australia, R.M. Williams Outback Magazine, and The Land.

He has appeared on FM radio across regional Western Australia, including Geraldton and Northam, as well as national broadcasts and interviews reaching audiences in Australia and New Zealand.

Following a serious helicopter accident in the remote Pilbara, Greg was rescued by the Royal Flying Doctor Service — an experience that shaped both his life and writing.

In later years, he gave back by founding the Ballythunna Bush Bash, a major outback fundraising event supporting the RFDS, and continues to contribute through his books, which are stocked in RFDS stores across Australia.

With over 60 years of lived experience, Greg’s writing is not imagined — it is lived, tested, and told as it happened.
