Hello and thank you for taking an interest in my writing!
The Watcher's Lullaby is my first novel - a spooky tale told by two women, with over a century between them, who experience strange and emotional occurrences living in the same farmhouse. A psychological thriller, the novel weaves themes of motherhood and post-natal depression. The book was inspired by childhood memories of my aunt and uncle experiencing strange incidents in their Suffolk, Tudor farmhouse, particularly in a bedroom where they felt like they were being watched... I love the timeless, remote Suffolk landscape and I have tried to evoke that atmosphere in the story.
I am currently working on a second novel, title to be confirmed! Beth finds comfort in her grief and flashbacks to her past when she flicks through family recipes she finds in her mother’s journals when she dies. Childhood memories, seen through adult eyes, challenge her perceptions and force her to unpick a knotty relationship she thought she understood. Watch this space!
In my former professional lives, I've been an employment law solicitor and a primary school teacher. The proud mother of two fantastic teenagers, Poppy and Barney, I live with them, my husband Mike and our black and white cavapoo, Luna, in Letchworth Garden City. Luna occasionally keeps my feet warm while I write, but more often than not just nibbles my socks.
