Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson grew up with his head in the clouds and his hands in the dirt of his family’s farm in southern Minnesota.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Theater and English, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing, he spent his 20s and 30s on stage, but now plays out the dramas of life on the page. For over 30 years he’s employed the art of storytelling in non-profit communications at organizations serving families with seriously ill children, people experiencing homelessness, and the at-home gardening community. A lifelong passionate gardener, Eric is a regular contributor to Northern Gardener magazine, where he shares his gardening insights and invites readers to explore the beauty and drama of growing things.

Eating disorders run in his family, but so do humor, optimism, and creativity. He believes life’s most rewarding moments are found in the pursuit of hobbies and passions that spark joy. Exploring one’s creative side might be the most lifesaving thing we can do for ourselves.
