Mohammed Albakry

Dr. Mohammed Albakry is an Egyptian-American academic author, translator, and podcaster. He is a professor of English Linguistics at Middle Tennessee State University. His research focuses on applied linguistics, language education, discourse analysis, and translation studies. His books include Writing Recommendation Letters: The Discourse of Evaluation in Academic Settings with Clint Bryan (Michigan University Press, 2024), "Translation and the Intersection of Texts, Contexts, and Politics" (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), and "Tahrir Tales: Plays from the Egyptian Revolution" with Rebekah Maggor (Seagull Books 2016). He is the host of "OnTranslation," a podcast dedicated to the discussion of the linguistic and cultural issues and controversies of translation from the classical past to the global present.
