Yore Fere

Yore Fere is the pen name of a Nigerian writer and poet whose work seeks to promote love, hope, friendship, and impartiality. Raised in a small quiet village in Northern Nigeria, his love has always been peoples and cultures.

Understanding the beauty and power of language, and how actions should change perception has set him on a quest to tell the stories that demand appreciation for those who prove first to be humans. To him, writing is more than for entertainment; it is a way to preserve memory, and to pay the debt every man owes his fellow—namely, to share what is good.

His early childhood had moments of uncertainty and fear because of anticipated violence. Trust was not a very common quality. Stereotypes existed and nothing good was expected from a particular tribe. From the small ones to the great, male or female, everyone was seen with the same eye, the eye of judgment.

Yore Fere was convinced that everyone was not the same. Hence, he saw good when others could not, and enjoyed good from those from whom only bad was expected. It is this richer and fuller life that acceptance offers that he hopes to share with you in his book “True Northerners.” Beneath the humor are lessons about love, hope, friendship, and acceptance. Lessons that will help you see life with a clearer lens.

Soon to be published is his book of poems “Maybe One Day, I will tell you how I have lived.” It takes you on a journey of self-discovery. From love to pain, loneliness to happiness, and poverty to hope. You will find every feeling you have experienced. You will find that you are not strange, that you can understand yourself, and that there are others like you, others who understand you. Each poem tells a story, your story.
