AY Akers

I am a writer whose journey is a testament to the interplay of education and a deep-seated passion for literary expression. My story began in New York - born to Nigerian parents who instilled in me a profound appreciation for education. This early foundation became the cornerstone of my life, influencing my decisions and aspirations.

As I embarked on a career in the U.S. Navy, my commitment to learning didn't waver. Amidst the rigors of military life, I pursued and completed my higher education. This academic journey led me to attain a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management, an MBA specializing in Cybersecurity, and a Graduate Certificate in Digital Forensics.

Parallel to my academic and professional pursuits was my burgeoning love for writing. This passion was kindled at the age of 10 when I wrote my first play, followed by a poem at 11. These early forays into writing were the precursors to a prolific period of literary creation, during which I wrote over 200 poems and crafted 25 play scripts. While these works remain unpublished, they signify a deep-rooted commitment to the literary arts.

Currently, as I delve into my doctoral studies at George Washington University and contribute as an Adjunct Professor at Collin College, my paths in education and writing are converging in a remarkable way. This phase of my life is marked by the creation of my first published work, a milestone that beautifully marries my academic pursuits with my passion for writing. This endeavor is not just a reflection of my journey but also embodies my philosophy of 'edutaining' – the art of educating through entertainment. It is through this lens that my experiences in education and literature seamlessly intertwine, highlighting the profound impact each has had on the other.
