Like most crafts people I am self-taught and started needlefelting as a hobby, but pretty soon the creatures were multiplying - as rabbits do! People were asking me to teach them and make wool sculptures for them.

Known to the felting world as Furzie, I have been needlefelting for over ten years now and have travelled the country, having taught over 2,000 people and now have my own workshop near Taunton in Somerset.

I had often thought about writing a book on needlefelting, so was delighted when Crowood Press approached me. It is only a small book, but I hope you will agree that it is perfectly formed, taking the reader on a complete journey through needlefelting from beginner to creator. I believe that my method of making a wool sculpture with a wire frame is one that can be applied to most animals or objects, and that once you have gained the confidence to experiment there is nothing that cannot be achieved. There is no secret to the fact that practice makes perfect and we are after all still practicing!
