Richard Meyer

Richard Meyer is a retired teacher of high school English and the humanities. His book WISE HEART, the memoirs of his mother Gertrude Klugherz Meyer, has been over twenty years in the making. Richard lives in Mankato, a city at the bend of the Minnesota River. He resides in his family home, the house his father Andy built, the house his mother Gert turned into a home. Born in 1951, he is the third of eight children.

In addition to WISE HEART, Richard is the author of ORBITAL PATHS, a book of poetry which was a silver medal winner in the 2016 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards. He was the recipient of the 2012 Robert Frost Farm Prize for his poem "Fieldstone." His poetry has appeared in a variety of literary journals and received top honors several times in the Maria W. Faust Sonnet Contest associated with the Great River Shakespeare Festival.

Richard's most recent book is STUMBLING ONWARD, a collection of new and selected poems.
