Omar Akhtar conducts research and advises companies on best practices in marketing, technology, and go-to-market excellence. He is the founder and Principal Analyst of Benchmarker, a research firm that provides B2B companies data and advisory on digital marketing practices.

Formerly, he was the Research Director of Altimeter, a Prophet Company and an Associate Partner at Prophet, a growth and transformation consultancy.

His research publications include digital practice benchmarks, maturity models, guides for developing

strategies, and frameworks for evaluating people, processes, and technologies.

As a technology analyst, he has provided commentary for prominent media outlets, including The Associated Press, National

Public Radio, Forbes, TechCrunch, and Yahoo News.

A graduate of Columbia University’s Journalism School, Omar has covered tech and finance for Fortune and was the editor-in-chief of the business tech blog The Hub, where he was one of the first writers to cover marketing cloud technology.

He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and three children, with a vigilant eye on where the next tech disruption will come from.
