Most recently, Galen Leonhardy published The Small Pond: A Play on Racism and Antiracist Teaching. In 2024, he published (through Purple Breeze Press) the book Skipping Stones: A Memoir of Teaching. Leonhardy has contributed essays to five books and has self-authored several others. His essays have been published in a variety of periodicals, journals, and blogs, including 45th Parallel, Truthout, Beyond Outcomes, College Quarterly, New City (Chicago), Teaching Composition at the Two-Year College, College Composition and Communication, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, The Chronicle of Higher Education and the AAUP’s Academe Blog. His poetry has been published by, among others, Rip Rap, the National Council of Teachers of English, and Mosaic Magazine (New York). His photographic work has been published in National Geographic Research and in Light and Shade (China).
