Tom Roth has been hooked on the outdoors ever since he caught his first fish at 18 months under the watchful eye of his grandfather. During his school years he longed to be outdoors and his parents thankfully accommodated his desires, renting camps and cabins in Maine, New Hampshire and Wisconsin before establishing a summer home on the shores of Sebago Lake. As a college student studying wildlife biology at the University of Maine, he sought out like-minded friends and escaped to the woods and waters between classes. Tom enjoyed a 32-year law enforcement career working as a summer game warden, a part-time deputy sheriff, a patrol officer, school resource officer, and even an undercover officer while working his way up the ranks and retiring once and jumping back into the work scene, now running Maine’s Fraud Investigation Unit. Despite a full week of work, Tom spends as many hours afield or on the water as he can, be it hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, skiing or just enjoying the beautiful State of Maine. His sporting adventures have taken him across the country, to Canada and the Caribbean. Since 1995, Tom has penned a regional column in The Maine Sportsman, New England’s largest outdoor publication. Tom has also had thousands of articles published in national magazines. Tom now lives in the family home on Sebago Lake and guides anglers for the abundant lake trout and salmon (Sebago Lake Guide Services) that inhabit Maine’s deepest lake on his boat, the “Black Ghost.” His YouTube channel, Troth1966 highlights many of his adventures just as they happen, real, genuine and with no edits; the same way Tom enjoys living his life.
