Dottie Lee is the award-winning author of The Adventures of Frances Flamingo picture book series—heartwarming stories that celebrate confidence, kindness, inclusion, and the courage to try something new.
A lifelong dance educator, choreographer, entrepreneur, and creative teacher, Dottie spent decades helping children and adults discover abilities they never knew they had, including individuals with neurological and mobility challenges. After a lifetime of inspiring others through movement, she began publishing children's books in her late 70s, proving it's never too late to follow a dream.
Growing up across the street from her hometown library, Dottie developed a lifelong love of books filled with adventure, imagination, and laughter. Today, she combines that passion with her experience as an educator to create stories that gently remind children that learning something new isn't hard—it's just new.
Through Frances Flamingo's adventures in dance, roller skating, soccer, and beyond, Dottie encourages self-confidence, perseverance, empathy, and social-emotional growth while creating memorable storytime experiences for children, parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians.
After a lifetime of helping children learn new skills, Dottie now inspires young readers to discover that trying something new is the beginning of every adventure.
