Marjorie Wechsler is the Principal Research Manager at the Learning Policy Institute and a co-lead of the organization’s Educator Quality team. She has more than 30 years of experience conducting policy research at the national, state, and local levels. She leads mixed-methods research studies related to teacher and leader quality and early childhood learning. Her work focuses on supporting and documenting systems change to advance equity, and on policies and strategies for improving educational and life outcomes for traditionally underserved students. She has authored several books, including Preparing Leaders for Deeper Learning (2023, Harvard Education Press); Developing Expert Principals: Professional Learning that Matters (Routledge, 2023); Disrupting Disruption: The Steady Work of Transforming Schools (2022, Oxford University Press); and On the Road to High-Quality Early Learning: Changing Children’s Lives (2018, Teachers College Press). Prior to joining the Learning Policy Institute, she was Co-Director of SRI International’s Center for Education Policy. She is a certificated teacher and began her career as a kindergarten teacher.
