Paul Tobin

Paul Tobin graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology(DIT) with honours in electronic engineering. He joined the Irish National Telecommunications company and was part of a team redesigning the analogue junction network with PCM systems over optical fibres. He accepted a full-time post with DIT in 1983 and gave courses in telecommunications, digital signal processing and circuit theory. He graduated with honours in 1998 with an MSc in Wavelet Transforms and neural networks to classify brain waves associated with different mental tasks.

He was a guest professor in the Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT), Bethune, France from 2002 until 2012. In 2007, Paul wrote five textbooks on PSpice simulation which were published 2007 by MorganClaypool, California, USA (now under Springer publishing). In 2015, he was invited to lecture in the Technical university, Warsaw, Poland and also gave a summer school in Odesa, Ukraine university. In 2014, 2015 and 2019, he taught courses in Nanjing university, China. He married Marie and they had four sons from the late 70s to late 80s.

After retirement he started a PhD in 2014 using chaos theory applied to cryptography which he completed in 2018.
