Andrew Moore

Born in 1970, I grew up on a small island (Mersea) on the North Sea coast of England, where sailing was my passion: I marveled at the way I could take my little dinghy anywhere I wanted, just with the natural energy of the wind. I did my A-levels (Abitur / bacalaureat) at Colchester Royal Grammar School (a state school). At the University of Cambridge (Clare College) I read natural sciences, graduating in biochemistry, and then enrolled in a joint PhD programme with the University and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (known for researchers such as Fred Sanger, Francis Crick and Jim Watson). After 9 years as a programme manager and editor at the European Molecular Biology Organization headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany, I joined the publisher Wiley as an Editor-in-Chief. As of 2021 I am self-employed as a communications coach, editor and writer. I have two children, and live with my partner near Heidelberg, Germany, not far from where my mother grew up.
