S. J. Clarke

Award-winning author and entrepreneur Sally J. Clarke brings a rare combination of global insight, professional leadership, and compelling storytelling to her work in the technology and creative arts sectors. Born in Britain and having lived in Spain and Singapore, Sally draws on a truly international perspective to inform both her writing and her business endeavors. Her extensive experience in global media, publishing, and entrepreneurship makes her a sought-after speaker for audiences interested in leadership, innovation, cross-cultural insights, and the intersection of creativity and business.

Her debut novel, Ringside Gamble, made an immediate impact upon its release in November 2023, soaring to the number one spot in Asian Literature and ranking as a bestseller in fantasy, combat sports, and young adult fiction. In September 2025, Ringside Gamble won the Ink Prize Award for Best Debut Novel and was runner-up in the Young Adult Fiction Category. Walk Away is her first non-fiction book.

Beyond her literary achievements, Clarke has played a pivotal role in business and the arts. She was awarded the 2014 La Salle Incubator Fund Award and led the advisory practice at the Singapore Institute of International Affairs. A former board advisor to The Substation, Singapore’s renowned contemporary arts platform, she has curated thought-provoking conferences and exhibitions in both visual arts and poetry. She also taught Central Asian Art History at La Salle College of the Arts in Singapore.

Clarke holds master’s degrees from the University of Barcelona (International Finance and Commerce) and the University of London (Modern Asian Art Histories), as well as a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Economics and Politics. In Singapore, she has further honed her craft through advanced writing courses with literary luminaries such as Clare Keegan, Jeanette Winterson, Darryl Whetter, and J.C. Hallman at the Asia Creative Writing Programme, a prestigious collaboration between the National Arts Council of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. In addition, she has attended workshops with Robert Anthony Siegel and is a Curtis Brown alumna.
