I’m Chris Hanson and I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to the Seattle area in September of 2008 and soon after, I met my wife, Lisa. In May of 2020, we welcomed our son, Benjamin, into the world.
I earned my special education teaching degree while working as a paraeducator in the Kent School District. Overall, I have over 10 years of classroom experience and 30 years and counting of lived experience with neurodivergency, specifically ADHD.
I started Life Skills Advocate, LLC in 2019 because I wanted to create the type of support I wish I had when I was a struggling teenager. Alongside our team of dedicated coaches, I feel very grateful to be able to support some teens, adults and families experiencing neurodivergency and the challenges that come with it.
When I started LSA, my goal was to provide in-home and community-based support to my own clients in and around the greater Seattle region. Teaching practical life skills and navigating life’s most difficult transitions. Fast forward a few years, while we still provide in-home support locally, I’m proud to say that LSA is now remotely serving clients around the country (and sometimes internationally!).
In the future, my goal is to expand our reach, to serve more clients in more places, especially those who can’t afford services. I’m working diligently to expand our product catalog and free content on our website, including our blog and other digital resources. We also plan to offer additional services that compliment our current offerings under the greater mission to provide neurodivergent individuals and families with the life skills training, executive functioning support, mentorship & coaching they need to build and sustain autonomy & independence.
