Annie McMahon Whitlock

Annie McMahon Whitlock is an Associate Professor of History/Social Studies at Grand Valley State University and a former middle school social studies teacher who teaches elementary and secondary social studies methods courses. Her research is centered on teaching elementary social studies through civic engagement, place-based inquiry, and curriculum integration. She is the author of Hollywood or History? An Inquiry-Based Strategy for Using The Simpsons to Teach Social Studies (2023) and Keywords in the Social Studies: Concepts and Conversations (2018).
