Paula Hallam is a registered children’s dietitian, mum to two girls and plant-based nutrition expert. Paula has been a dietitian for 24 years and has worked in the NHS for 18 years, including the world-famous Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (twice!) as well as in the private sector, food allergy research, and providing nutrition consultancy to charities, food brands and childcare facilities.
Paula has worked as a nutrition consultant to many well-known brands including Deliciously Ella, Rhitrition, Babease, Wildly Tasty, Nature and Nurture, and Lune and Wild. Paula recently wrote a chapter on raising plant-based children in Deliciously Ella’s latest bestselling cookbook, How To Go Plant-Based, which was published in August 2022.
Paula has an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and a postgraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as additional postgraduate training in paediatric nutrition and plant-based nutrition. In 2019, Paula completed a postgraduate certificate in Advanced Professional Practice in Paediatric Dietetics from the University of Plymouth and in 2021 completed the 'Plant Based Nutrition: A Sustainable Diet for Optimal Health' course at the University of Winchester, accredited by the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
Paula is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and Plant Based Health Professionals UK. She is a committee member of the Sustainable Diets Group of the BDA.
Paula has always had a love of cooking and delicious food. Growing up in Cape Town, she enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her mum, learning favourite recipes and cooking skills from a young age. Nowadays, Paula enjoys cooking with her two teenage daughters and hopes to share her extensive knowledge of plant-based eating with a wider audience in Plant Powered Little People.
