My writing journey began more than twenty years ago with the story of Gammelnok. Although that early attempt never quite materialized, the little make-believe character, who lived by the top pond in our garden in England, kept calling out to be heard.

Finally, in April 2024, I found a way to silence him—by killing him off. You can read about him in The Adventures of Gammelnok.

What followed were a series of short stories, with Gammelnok making occasional appearances as a background figure. He pops up in The Missing Piece, a sequel to The Azalea Murder, which itself followed Be a Buddy, Not a Bully. All three stories feature Jesper Knasfis, a clever young Danish lad.

Now, in happy retirement in a small hilltop village in southern Andalusia, where I lived with my wife Hazel, of nearly fifty years until her death in September 2025. She was always full of wacky ideas and a constant source of inspiration for my writing. I took those ideas and shaped them, hoping that you, the reader who has discovered this small collection, will enjoy what I've created.

Mi aventura como escritor comenzó hace más de veinte años con la historia de Gammelnok. Aunque ese primer intento nunca se materializó, el pequeño personaje imaginario, que vivía junto al estanque superior de nuestro jardín en Inglaterra, no dejaba de gritar para ser escuchado.

Finalmente, en abril de 2024, encontré la manera de silenciarlo: matándolo. Puedes leer sobre él en The Adventures of Gammelnok.

Lo que siguió fueron una serie de relatos cortos, con Gammelnok haciendo apariciones ocasionales como personaje secundario. Aparece en The Missing Piece, una secuela de The Azalea Murder, que a su vez siguió a Sé un amigo, no un matón. Los tres relatos presentan a Jesper Knasfis, un joven danés inteligente.

Ahora, felizmente jubilado, vivo en un pequeño pueblo en la cima de una colina al sur de Andalucía, donde viví con mi esposa Hazel durante casi cincuenta años, hasta su fallecimiento en septiembre de 2025. Siempre estuvo llena de ideas extravagantes y fue una fuente constante de inspiración para mi escritura. Tomé esas ideas y les di forma, con la esperanza de que tú, el lector que ha descubierto esta pequeña colección, disfrutes de lo que he creado.
