Lefteris Sakkas

Lefteris Sakkas was born in Peristeri, Attica, Greece, in 1971. He is originally from Amarantos and Pyxaria Konitsis of the County of Ioannina. He graduated from the 27th General High School in Akadimia Platonos and holds a degree in Nursing from a Technological Educational Institute (TEI). He works in a psychosocial rehabilitation center.

He was an avid soccer, basketball, and tennis player until his Achilles’ tendons ruptured. He now favors sports like chess and billiards, along with mind games. He admits, “Somewhere between all that, I caught the writing bug.”

Exodus(Έξοδος)-Batsioulas, 2008, his first historical fiction novel, received a special award from the Municipality of the Holy City of Missolonghi on the occasion of the Exodus of Missolonghi Celebrations.

When Death picks favorites (Οι Εκλεκτοί του Θανάτου)- Batsioulas, 2010, is his second historical fiction novel out of five.

He is married to Aliki Mavridou and has two children.
