As a first-time father three years ago, I discovered the enchanting world of bedtime stories with my daughter. These quiet moments, just before sleep, became cherished memories. One particular old book about the alphabet, with each letter represented by an animal and accompanied by poems, held a special place in our hearts. The nostalgia of my own mother reading those poems to me resurfaced. However, I felt the need to create something new, with fresh poems and illustrations, to share with my daughter.
Growing up in a small farmer village in the north of Luxembourg, surrounded by nature and animals, I developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. Despite being more inclined towards music, with a background in DJ'ing and music production, I found a new outlet for artistic expression in creating children's books.
My childhood love for stories and detective tales, such as Tiger-Team and later the magical world of Harry Potter, fueled my passion for storytelling. Now, as a father and someone who works with children with special needs, I enjoy fostering a literary imagination realm where kids can discover the wonders of the alphabet.
With my debut children's book, I aim to convey not only the joy of learning the alphabet but also the importance of words, sentences, and basic communication in the human experience. The book delves into the beauty of the animal kingdom, reflecting my childhood in a small village surrounded by nature.
Embarking on this writing journey was a new challenge, reminiscent of the learning experiences of young readers. The process allowed me to connect with the curiosity and excitement of children discovering language for the first time. My current focus for future projects leans towards the theme of self-confidence, a topic that resonates with my experiences working with children.
While my engagement with readers is still in its early stages, the book has been out for just about a month. I encourage aspiring authors to take on new challenges, embracing the learning curve as an opportunity for growth, much like the little readers we aim to inspire.
In the words of a familiar slogan, "Just do it," and I'm not endorsing any specific sporting brand... just encouraging fellow storytellers to take that leap into the world of imagination.
