Dev Kothari

Dev Kothari is a writer and poet. She grew up in a sleepy hamlet near Mumbai where she spent most of her free time reading, writing and daydreaming. After graduating with an engineering degree, she moved to the UK where she worked and went on to earn an MBA from the University of Oxford and an MA with distinction in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University.

Her debut novel, Bringing Back Kay-Kay, was shortlisted for the Jhalak Prize, the Warwickshire Secondary Schools Book Awards, the Tower Hamlets Book Prize and longlisted for the Branford Boase award in 2025. She won the Commonword Diversity YA novel prize in 2018 for an unpublished novel and her works have been listed for many other awards. She lives in London with her family.
