David Stallings Vanderpool

David Vanderpool is a dedicated humanitarian with a passion for agricultural development and food security. His journey in the field of community development began during his college years when he made the life-changing decision to move to Haiti in response to the devastating 2010 earthquake. This experience ignited his commitment to making a positive impact on vulnerable communities around the world.

After completing his undergraduate studies, David continued his work in Haiti, recognizing the urgent need for sustainable solutions in the aftermath of the earthquake. While studying at Texas A&M University, he graduated from the Bush School with a Master’s Certificate in International Affairs & Nonprofit Management and from the College of Agriculture with a Master’s of Agriculture in International Agricultural Development. He has also studied Meat Goat Management at Langston University and International Fisheries at St. Andrew’s University. This academic foundation equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to address complex agricultural challenges in developing countries.

David's dedication to humanitarian efforts led him to new horizons when he was recruited by the US Army to conduct agricultural development missions in Afghanistan. His expertise and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those in need proved invaluable in this challenging environment.

Post-deployment, David founded IDEA (International Development Extension Agency) and returned to Haiti for an additional two years, demonstrating his long-term commitment to the Haitian people and their agricultural development.

David's impact extended beyond Haiti's borders. He worked in India, where he designed agribusinesses, and provided consultation and support to organizations in a multitude of countries, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Madagascar, Mozambique, Ghana, Ukraine, Guyana, and Honduras. His expertise in agricultural development was sought after globally, reflecting his dedication to creating sustainable change.

For three years, David served as the Global Food and Agriculture Specialist for Convoy of Hope, a prominent international humanitarian organization. In this role, he managed the organization's global agriculture program across 35 countries, spanning from the Americas to Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His leadership and strategic vision helped empower communities and alleviate food insecurity in diverse cultural contexts.

While his professional accomplishments are substantial, David Vanderpool's journey has also been a family affair. His wife, Devin, has been his partner in this noble endeavor, working alongside him in many of the countries they have served. Together, they have two children, creating a legacy of compassion and service that extends to the next generation.

David continues to empower INGOs and Ministries of Agriculture with his expertise in agricultural development. His experience in over 42 countries and the work he implemented has made a meaningful difference in Latin America & the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and beyond. His dedication to creating sustainable change in some of the world's most vulnerable communities serves as an inspiration to all who seek to make a positive impact on the world.
