After "Latin-Greek" secondary studies at the Collège St Pierre in Uccle, I graduated in 1971 as a civil engineer in applied mathematics from the Catholic University of Louvain. In 2002, still at UCL, I obtained a degree in Philosophy
Hired in 1973 as a computer scientist in the banking sector, I was appointed general manager of the Brussels Stock Exchange in 1989. Disagreeing with the stockbrokers, I left my position the following year and decided to transform my passion for creativity into a profession. I then started doing business consulting. From 2001 to 2013, I was a partner at the Boston Consulting Group where I developed creativity and foresight methods. I am now a BCG Fellow .
At the same time, I created the Cartoonbase agency in 2000 , with Olivier Saive, Cartoonbase is a communications agency where artists and consultants work together. Initially intended to promote cartoons as a vector of corporate communication, Cartoonbase is today managed by Martin Saive and Thomas Doutrepont and mainly produces videos.
From 2011 to 2018 I gave a course on “philosophical approach to technologies and management” at the Louvain School of Management. Today I teach the “Critical Thinking” course at the Solvay Business School, and speak occasionally at the ETH in Zurich or at the Ecole Centrale in Paris.
I collected non-electric calculating machines for a long time before bequeathing my collection to the Louvain-la-Neuve Museum and the Brussels Planetarium.
