Lindy Kato

Being described as a waste of oxygen by some of her teachers, Lindy Kato left school at fifteen and eventually trained as a psychiatric nurse. Following nearly two decades of nursing she spent the next fifteen years in the revolving care of the Mental Health Team she had worked with. During this harrowing time, she gained an MSc in ecotoxicology, a teaching diploma and trekked to Everest Base Camp. To finally regain control of her life she completed an Ironman and earned a Doctorate in genetics – publishing in evolutionary genetics and bioinformatics. This is her first foray into personal reflection.

She lives in New Zealand in a self built house near the sea with two dogs and her sweetheart.
