Bio for Sharon Atwood

Originally from a small farm town in Hayden, AL, Sharon went on to attend Birmingham Southern College earning a bachelor's degree in Language Arts Secondary Education. She then went on to complete her Master's in Special Education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Realizing that she wished to work with the elderly as well as with children, she became a certified Home Health Aide for a while. In order to follow some of her true passions, she decided to immerse herself into poetry, writing, and artistic expression.

An active member of her local church, she enjoys participating in small group Bible studies. She is currently employed part-time by Better Basics Inc. as a Reading Intervention teacher for elementary-age children. When she is not writing or working she likes to cuddle with her cat, Selah.

Sharon's writing endeavors include poetry and short stories in several published books from contributing authors. But her most exciting book is the devotional book for the mental health community that she co-authored with a friend titled "Outta My Mind, Into His Heart." This devotional book is unique in that it addresses the challenges that mentally ill individuals face and the hardships encountered by their advocates. The book includes reflective questions for the reader as well as journaling pages and lots of coloring pages.
