Michaela E Gordon

Michaela Gordon is a pediatric occupational therapist in Santa Barbara, California. She has been practicing for over 20 years and specializes in helping children with sensory processing challenges as well as other occupational therapy based challenges.

Throughout the years, she’s learned a variety of approaches to help children develop self-regulation, social-emotional, and executive functioning skills. However, like many therapists come to find out, just when they think they understand everything they need to know to help a child, someone comes along with specific needs that challenges the therapist to search further or to even come up with their own unique approach to help that child develop the skills for meaningful interactions and experiences.

Michaela began to write down different types of concepts based on her own clinical experience and her clients’ needs. One day after trying to explain to a child that their energy takes up a certain amount of space, she tried to find a book to explain this further to the child. After a long search, she realized that she couldn’t find what she was looking for so she wrote her own story for the child. That is how ZOEY AND HER AMAZING ENERGY BUBBLE! was born!

Michaela’s hope is that the concepts written in her book, can be one more helpful tool in the toolbox of caregivers, teachers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals who are passionate about helping children learn self regulation skills.
