Amanda Cessor is a neurodivergent, queer author and artist living in the San Bernardino mountains with their spouse, their dog and their two cats. They write books that feature characters dealing with mental illness, with disability, with grief, finding love that doesn't necessarily save them from those struggles, but reminds them that they're worthy of love in spite of the struggles.
Their debut novel, With Love, Juniper, featured a protagonist with debilitating social anxiety navigating a love that had been growing since childhood. A Waltz with the Bone King depicted a story about how grief and love are really just the same thing in different colors. Jinxes and Drumsticks told a story of an epileptic witch trying to avoid heartache by isolating herself, and the drummer who taught her that love and companionship is what made devastation worth risking.
When they aren't writing at home, they're sneaking into the color mixing room between clients to chip away at their most recent manuscript or drawing their newest characters kissing (sometimes with tongue.) You can find them on instagram @amandacanwrite.
