Marc Dupret grew up on a barrier island off the Florida East Coast. He attended universities in Florida, Mexico, Hawaii, and France, earning a graduate degree in agronomy. As a Peace Corps volunteer in the South Pacific, he managed the demonstration farm at the University of the South Pacific, where he also taught botany and plant grafting.
Over the next three decades, he managed humanitarian projects in areas of natural and manmade disasters. His work took him to Africa, Asia, and Latin America and focused on subsistence farmers. He currently lives in a fern forest in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys kayaking and dog joring.
