Sonja and her husband, Bill, are the parents of 7 children, and have lived in nine U.S. states. They have owned or leased 19 homes and all seven of their children were born in different cities. That pretty much sums up her life in a tight little bundle. But wait, there’s more.
Sonja's philosophy of story began when she was a child listening to her father’s aunts, uncles and cousins gather around our kitchen table and swap tales of the Ozarks.
Her mother regaled the family with stories of ancestors who walked across the American prairies pulling two wheeled handcarts or riding in covered wagons.
It was this family scenario that taught her the importance of sharing family history and understanding what creates the desire to share our stories. Stories bind us, unite us and perpetuate traditions: “We gain greater appreciation when we learn to understand the challenges and sacrifices of those progenitors.”
As a child, Sonja always wanted to be a writer. She spent 30 years employed in legal research, journalism, advertising, public relations, marketing, and publishing.
She was listed in the National Storytellers Directory and performed at fairs, conventions, schools, Theme parks reunions, etc. Her favorite audience was always her own children. She has taught story structure and creative writing to eager writers who want to write their own stories.
She hopes you will join her in her love of the power of storytelling.
