From the beginning, I decided that the Barn Kids would be super heroes so in these stories, their bravery, ingenuity and teamwork enable them to solve problems that should be far beyond children of their age. Also, quite cleverly I thought, each child has at least one moment in the sun, so satisfying my own children and ensuring that each of the grandchildren's reading skills will be enhanced. After all, who doesn't want to read and re-read a story in which he or she saves the day.
In real life, of course, they squabble, scream and shout and leave their bedrooms messy, but not here!
The children still visit regularly and they approve of the book, which is good news. Snoopy, Marnie and newcomer Lottie the lurcher, are all very much ok, greatly enjoying their walks with my wife and I on Sandwich Bay.
