Sarah Rees lives on a small farm in Herefordshire, England with her husband, a large variety of horses, dogs, cats, chickens, bantams, and a very special little wild rescue rabbit named Percie Pocket!
She is trained in early years teaching and before moving into educational neuroscience research, she worked in a variety of assistance and leadership roles in a school.
Early childhood educational research has been her main professional focus since 2008, and in recent years she has been primarily engaged with the field of neuroscience and education. She is interested in many different areas of child development, but most specifically, the neuroscience of the imagination, mind wandering and the brain's default mode network.
Sarah's first children’s fiction book was published in October 2023. The story roots back to her own deep imaginative play experiences with a special friend when she was a child. Both her country of birth, Australia, and her childhood home in the UK were additional sources of inspiration for this book. As children growing up in the 1980's, Sarah and her friend were blessed to have the time to play, and freedom to endlessly roam around the countryside. Their imagination flourished and they created elaborate fantasy worlds that they loved, and where they enjoyed many exciting adventures. In today's fast-paced and digital world, Sarah's mission is to share the significance of the imagination and of time in nature, to child development.
