Andrew Capon learned the joy of storytelling from his grandpa, who would tell tales of mythical beings and a Giant who used a dustbin as a teacup. The little boy, snuggling into grandpa’s warm embrace, was enthralled. He never forgot this joy and continued the family tradition by telling ‘Grandpa Draper’s Tall Stories’ to his own grandchildren. They loved them!
Working in Science, Andrew developed his writing skills preparing reports, publications, and standards, both in the public and private sectors, and for international bodies such as ISO.
Now retired, Andrew has brought Grandpa Draper's Giant Stories to the page, and in collaboration with illustrator Virvalle Carvallo (@vircarvallo) has produced the series “The Giant who Loves Adventures”.
Andrew donates 50% of the royalties he earns from his books to the Pituitary Foundation, because one of his grandchildren, Isaac, was born without a functioning pituitary gland and receives daily medication to maintain life. The Pituitary Foundation helped the family enormously in the early days, so it is great to be able to say "thank you". Isaac, now 12 at the time of writing, is amazing, and copes really well with his condition.
