N. R. Gopal

N. R. Gopal, PhD, is an Associate Professor in English and also the Director of the Centre for Tribal Literature of America at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala. He completed his MA and PhD from Kashi Vidyapeeth Varanasi. He has amassed thirty years of invaluable experience in the field of education, passionately sharing his knowledge and expertise with students throughout his distinguished career. Dr. Gopal specializes in various areas, including Indian English Literature and American Indian Literature. His diverse areas of interest encompass Translation Studies and Interdisciplinary Studies. Some notable research awards and grants include the Award of Research Associateship by the Inter-University Centre, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla (2001-2002), and the Award of Minor Research Project on an interdisciplinary study entitled "Freud's Psychological Categories and Harold Bloom's Literary Theory" by the University Grants Commission (2001).

With a deep passion for literature and a commitment to exploring and promoting tribal narratives, Dr. Gopal has made significant contributions to the field of literary studies. He authored the book A Critical Study of the Novels of Anita Desai in 1995. He has published articles and book chapters that delve into the complexities of tribal literature and its intersection with identity, power dynamics, and cultural representation. As the Director of the Centre for Tribal Literature of America, he has played a pivotal role in establishing and fostering a space that celebrates tribal literature.
