R.C. McDonald was born and raised in the city of Baltimore, where she was the only girl of 6 children. As a child she saw her mother work hard to raise her kids while enduring the struggles of a life as a woman who spent many more years apart from her husband than with him. Though at times she questioned why her mother would scrub floors, cook meals and accompany an elderly woman to her doctor’s appointments for what R.C. considered pennies she grew to respect her reasons. As a child she believed her mom was weak but later she realized her Mom was the strongest woman she had ever known. Later that wonderful woman became the inspiration for the lead characters in several of her books and inspired the Woman’s Empowerment series.
