Melanie Henry

Melanie Henry, an Aussie gal who made her way to the San Francisco Bay area in California 16+ years ago, experienced many adjustments including driving on the "right" side of the road. It was during her time as Transportation Coordinator for a volunteer driver medical ride program that she identified the need for an independent, objective and accurate driver cognitive assessment service. Melanie specializes in evaluating experienced drivers to determine if they are mentally safe to drive.

Melanie is the Founder and CEO of the Driver Cognitive Assessment Center, LLC, known as DCAC. In 2025, she opened Turn Signal Driving School, a division of DCAC. Melanie is a DMV CA Licensed Driving Instructor, Driver Rehabilitation Professional (DRP) and Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). Her credentials include a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Welfare, an Associate Degree in Child Studies.

Melanie's wealth of experience as a case manager, caregiver and driving instructor provides her with additional insights, coming from a place of compassion and sensitivity throughout the entire assessment process.

At DCAC, world leading impairment assessment technology is utilized to determine a driver's risk and gives families peace of mind. Results are accurate, objective and impartial. DCAC also offer driver refresher sessions and lessons to new and experienced drivers of all ages.

Melanie is a sought-after speaker on the topics of aging and driving. She is also the co-author of two best-selling books Difficult Aging in Place Conversations (2023) and Aging in Place Conversations, the Caregiver's Edition (2025) Melanie is an active volunteer with the CARFiT program in Northern California, serving as a Technician and Event Coordinator.
