J.S. SAVAGE

J.S. Savage is a British mystery author specialising in impossible crimes, locked-room mysteries and fair-play detective fiction, combining the ingenious puzzles of Golden Age crime with atmospheric settings and a modern sense of humour.

He is the creator of Inspector Graves, a Scotland Yard detective solving seemingly impossible murders in 1920s Britain, and Penny Haylestone, an amateur sleuth with an unfortunate habit of encountering murder wherever she goes.

His mysteries include The Mystery of Treefall Manor, The Riddle of the Ravens and Sun, Sea, & Murder. His forthcoming Inspector Graves short-story collection, 7 Deadly Sins, features seven cases built around impossible crimes, ingenious puzzles and fair-play clues.

J.S. Savage is a member of the Crime Writers' Association. Two of his short stories have been traditionally published, and two of his novels have been selected as Book of the Month by In Search of the Classic Mystery Novel.

A lifelong admirer of Agatha Christie and the great puzzle mysteries of the Golden Age, Savage believes the reader should always be given a fair chance to solve the crime before the detective does.

He can usually be found plotting impossible murders with a pint of ale at his elbow.
